About Us

We take complex data and conflicting viewpoints - essentially the chaos of everyday life and extract underlying trends to guide future thinking, technology and workforce development. We take the complex and make sense out of it, delivering unbiased explanations that are simple to work from.

We use the rigor of scientific principles, the knowledge of scientific theory and the practicality of experience to understand, explain and help predict human behaviour.

We design for people's needs.  We deliver tailor-made solutions from knowledge of what humans require in their particular circumstances using knowledge of human performance limitations.

Dr Martin Langham

Managing Director of User Perspective Ltd.  We deal with that bit of science between psychology and engineering called Human Factors.  On many jobs I have found the focus was on ‘stuff’' rather than people, as summed up by one of our clients “We’ve written twelve manuals and invested millions in technology – but still nothing works – perhaps another procedure manual is needed?”

I founded User Perspective to deliver good quality applied science in commercial environments. The aim is to address time, money and resource spent on a perceived problem by delivering real world evidence and data combined with a traditional scientific approach to identify the actual problem and achieve measurable results. One of our best known projects was our involvement in Operation Paget – the Metropolitan Police inquiry led by Lord Stevens that investigated the conspiracy theories surrounding the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales and Dodi Al-Fayed in 1997.

Our work provides us with an exciting array of problems and issues to deal with.  As a company working in so many different domains the question we’re often asked is how we deal with the diversity of market sectors.  The answer is simple – we focus on humans. Whether it’s in the security, government, transport or maritime sectors or whether the operator is a security officer, a transport operator, or member of the public dealing with a complex bit of technology or environment the question for us is the same: Can humans do this - Will humans do this?  In other words, is the operator able to do this, and will they be motivated to?

Got a problem – does it involve humans in some way? Perhaps it’s worth a call and a visit.
